Watched some movies tonight. Enjoyed my favorite parts of GI Jane (after purchasing it & nearly 40 others for $0.99 each!), watched "The Object of My Affection" and "Skulls" also.
I got this idea while watching Skulls...what if there were a secret society of women behind the skulls...watching them, molding them as they see fit, allowing them to believe they are the most powerful. Truly a situation of "behind every great man is a great woman"...
These women, even more unscrupulous than the men? Do they keep track of every piece of information on the men? What would they be named? Daughters of Eve? Ladies of Lilith? Preistesess of Gaia? the Motherhood?
How old could this society be? Could it be truly ancient?
Could this group be much more encompasing?
Do they protect all women & find ways to avenge women harmed, especially by powerful men?
Watched "Wanted" yesterday. Imagine if this society is that ancient, yet embedded like the Skulls, with members from all over the globe, from all classes.
What famous women were a part of it? What famous women weren't granted membership, had membership revoked...or possibly were destroyed by this society for crimes against women or the organization? Tags: fic ideas, movies

I actually DID sing Happy Birthday to myself when I noticed the clock said 5:56 pm, which just happens to be the time I was born 27 years ago. Interestingly enough I was even at the hospital I was born at today...luckily not for myself. It's been one of those days, where I've laughed, cried, been entertained & entertaining, eaten AWESOME food and eaten leftovers in a hurry. yeah, I admit it. I don't like Jennifer Keller. I hate McKeller. The only time I enjoy a fic is when Jennifer is not, has never and will never get with Rodney McKay. She can pine for him, but never even get a bit of a response back. There was a fic that I didnt' totally hate where she was Rodney's beard, but even that was too close for me.
(Can you imagine it, she's Rodney's beard, until she "mysteriously" gets pregnant with his kid and they get married, leaving poor heart broken John trying to pretend he's ok and totally happy for them:
John: Rodney! What the fuck?!? You slept with her!!!
Rodney: Yes, but it was just to keep things looking authentic!
John: that's not keeping things authentic, it's cheating, you bastard!)
So I read one of the McShep Match entries today, where Jennifer and Rodney invite John for a threesome and Jennifer mentions that he was talked about so much in their bed that she figured he should join them. And I wondered if instead, Jennifer and Rodney are pressuring John into a threesome, and he doesn't want to. (Something like the prequel to Honor Guard where John reflects that Rodney would never offer him a parody of what he really wants like another buddy did, where eventually John was asked to be best man while half naked either before or after sex with a couple who he was in a threesome with. And they never thought of John, obviously, because he was really into this guy, and this guy got the best of both worlds, he could get his cock-fix, but he was also marrying his girlfriend. But they never thought how it worked for John!
So what if Rodney and Jennifer started to pursue John to sleep with them? And John was totally uncomfortable with it, but tried to be friends still. But even that was souring, because they were constantly trying to pursuade him. And so John decides to quit, or maybe just take a vacaiton. And then Teyla and Ronon find out what's going on...maybe Woosley too, because he could be really cool as he verbally slapped down Rodney and Jennifer.
And maybe Jennifer didn't know it would make problems, but maybe she did. And she figured either she'd get good sex out of John before really making him miserable and showing him where his place is, or maybe she just figured she could get him to leave so that Rodney would focus on her better.
And Rodney maybe didn't even notice that John wanted him until Jennifer pointed it out, but he figures Jennifer has the right idea, and so he pursues it blindly, not realizing what a mistake he's making. Ok, so I've always been a big fan of McShep, but I've realized how decidedly odd my preferences are...
So,obviously, I'm a HUGE fan of John/Rodney (or Rodney/John), and I enjoy OT4 as long as they primarily pair off John/Rodney & Teyla/Ronon. I prefer Rodney gay than straight, but if John is with a woman, I'd like Rodney to be with a woman too...but typically not Jennifer Keller.
I'd rather read about John with someone else than Rodney with someone else.
Rodney can only be with Major Lorne if John brought him to play. Otherwise, I'm sad.
The only person I really don't like John with is Elizabeth Wier, although there are a few really great stories that are the exception. (In fact, I like stories where perfect Wier gets shot down for Rodney...but I think part of that is because I'm not fond of skinny women...yeah, I'm horrible!)
it's just wierd though, I really don't like Rodney paired with anyone. Definately not Cameron Mitchell or Major Lorne. But John can pair with either of them.
I remember there's one story where Rodney is lost ot Atlantis for a long time. And John never gives up hope & is really obsessive. And then they get Rodney back & he's not interested in John anymore & even gets together with Lorne & Chuck. It was an interesting story, but I couldn't deal with the pairings & the whumping for poor John. It made me so miserable, I imagined John going psycho and killing everyone--chuck and lorne first, himself last, but having rodney still alive to see everyone die. (I know, sick. but it made me happier to imagine an awful plot twist to insanity than the way things were going in the story.)
Or there's the other one where Jennifer ends up with both Rodney and Ronon, and Rodney leaves the team & John is all alone. The author wrote a sequel where Rodney moves John closer to his family. I just wanted John to throw it back in his face! Say something like "You want me to see even more closely how much I'm alone? That you'd rather shack up with the happy couple and their child than even think of a relationship with me? Fuck that, I'm resigning!" And John goes back to Earth. Starts a relationship with Mitchell. Or maybe Carter? And then Rodney comes after him like a year later. By then he'd bombed his relationship with Jennifer and Ronon, and he gets there & John's got his own happy family.
Oh, yeah & I'd love to see a Dark! John-kills-Jennfer fic where he makes sure to let her know that she "did it to herself" by trying to take Rodney from him. (It's so sick of me...but really, I might have to try writing it.)
Pretty much the only time I like Jennifer Keller is when she's with someone else. I even sorta liked the relationship on screen, but it seemed to come out of practically no where & the writers kept giving us these hints of McShep longing (Hello! The Shrine much?!? or what about the scene between Rodney and John in Tracker? Or when John notices Keller and Rodney in the beginning of Brainstorm?)
And another thing, Brainstorm, otherwise known as the episode with no Teyla, 30 seconds of John and Ronon and then Jennifer in ugly boots for half the episode. Where's my team? Why could they not be on screen??? I would have rather seen Teyla or Ronon go with if John couldn't. Can you imagine Ronon? Everyone would be so confused. ("Oh, well, I wanted to bring my partner, but he's got the same thing Ronon's girlfriend's son has, so the three of them are stuck at the hotel. Teyla keeps telling us that John is being a bigger baby than Torren, who is under a year. ) Tags: fic ranting, rants, stff i hate

Just a quick note while I'm at work. I've got a whole new department & am being trained for the next few months. It's so awesome, because I came to help out for 3 weeks in a different department because mine was so slow, and 4 months later, I was still helping out & they asked if I wanted to stay permanently. No need to apply, no interview, and a new position that after 6 months in the department I can go to four ten-hour days a week, one 4-day weekend a month.
They've got me training in a room that's double the size of the regular department room. So instead of 2 different departments under one VP with a total of 40 people inside, we've got a room with 70 people from 10 different departments. A real mish-mash room, but it's got windows so we DO get to see the sun occasionally.
And right now the PA system is blaring 80's music (well, maybe not blaring, but I'm right under the speaker, and even though someone's covered it with a paper plate, it's still kinda loud). Someone else is listening to a contemporary pop/rock station and another person has some sort of thumping dance beat playing. At one point, the thumping beat had a very "classic late 80s, early 90s" beat going, Madonna's "Open Your Eyes" was playing over the speakers, and Pink's "So What" was playing a few cubes over. Very surreal sounds going on here. Tags: music, work

I just have to bitch for a few minutes...
I live with my mother, have for 5 years since her divorce from dad. We get along really well & financially/emotionally support eachother through the tough times. A little more than a year ago, mom started dating this really great guy, Kim. He's really nice & a big improvement from both dad & from mom's friends-with-benefits boytoy (20 years younger, she brought him home from work to meet me!). They're very together, and have been for a long while. Mom spends 4 days a week at home & the others with him. She also spends all holidays with him now, and I'm often invited, but it's a big change from holding holidays for the whole family at our place.
So that's been a bit difficult for me at times.
About 3 months ago, my aunt (& godmother) came to live with us, after my mom tried foisting her off on my father--which only lasted 6 weeks before he was fed up. So my aunt who doesn't work, has some health problems but does nothing to correct them, and talks about everything on tv WHILE it's playing (and a ton of other annoying things like leaving garbage lying about, including old paper plates with food on them) has now invaded my home. She eats the food I specifically bought, with my own money, for myself, even after I've said it's mine & left notes.
Then last night, she called me down from my bedroom, where I was winding down to sleep. She sounded like she was about to cry & I was worried I might have to drive her to the hospital or something. Turns out she pressed the wrong button on the universal remote & it made the tv act really wierd. And I "have to fix it!" Very annoyed, I refused to enter the room for fear I would freak out & possibly try to remove the tv from the room for her annoying me (or, you know, maybe break the tv)...and it's not like I knew what the problem WAS, anyway. So I told her to turn the tv off. First she tried the remote & actually started crying because "it won't turn OFF" so I told her to turn it off manually. Then she was all "now what?!?" and I just told her to try turning it back on. And it worked! Just like last time. And I told her that if she did it again, to try that first because I didn't know of any other solutions than that.
So I was pretty awake now, and it took me 2 hours to feel tired again, and then she came in, with a plate of muffins and offered them to me. (I won't eat her cooking because she's so very unhygenic. I've refused for years now, ever since I came early to Christmas to help her cook and saw how disgusting she is.)
After that, I tried to go to sleep, but she was on the phone. Her door was closed, and I really can't close mine, because the cat will open it again, but I tried anyway, and even with both doors closed & a pillow on my head, I could hear her! So today I'm a bit sleep deprived and soon I think I will snap.
And I just hope I don't snap at my mother, because I was so tempted to call up and say "you've abandoned me to her!" Tags: real life, whining

So my latest fanfic obsession is Star Trek (Reboot), specifically slash, major focus: kirk/spock. Not to say that I'm not still obsessed with Stargate Atlantis, (John/Rodney)...

Suddenly my head is filled with a dark fic--the Enterprise as homicidal maniacs, maybe when Starfleet pushes them too far? Kirk is charming as he pilliages your ship or planet, Violently-Polite!Spock, Earth Mother Uhura helping him to burn down your house and salt your fields (but only when you cross them, of course!) who tells you in your own dialect how you fucked up. So Mom and I hosted dinner & a movie again. We try to do it once a month--we're hitting more like every 2-3, but that's ok.
So it was Mom, her boyfriend Kim, their friend from work James (who is my age) and I. We were going to watch Night of the Comet (spoofy sci-fi from the 80's, classic!) but my DVD player is apparently dying. Considering I bought it for maybe $150 9 years ago, I can't complain. We've had it set up as the main DVD player in the living room for like 5 years now.
Instead we watched Peggy Sue Got Married and ate Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza from Godfather's Pizza. (Yum.)
After the movie, we played Monopoly. None of us had played for more than a decade. It was so fun. At first, I thought I'd lose, because everyone was snapping up property, and I just had the 1 Rail Road. But suddenly I had 2 and then all 4, and eventually collected more...and after an hour or two, I'd won! I had nearly $10,000 in cash & 1/2 of the properties with a bunch of houses. Kim was the other person who still had money & property, and he had like $2,000. It was a very woah! moment when we realized how much I'd won by. Now if only I had that kind of money in real life.
The best parts of the game were when we kept landing in jail--Kim & I went there the most. There were jokes about Big Bertha and Billy Bob, and painting murals on the jail walls. Someone accused me of prostitution, and then since I had all 4 rail roads, someone complained about paying $200 so often, and since the guys kept landing the most, Mom said that the train must be offering special services. So I'm Madam Vicki. :-)
All in all, a good night. Soon we'll be seeing Jeff Dunham, which will be cool. He's a pretty good comedian.
And next dinner & a movie we also plan to play Clue (I've got the Simpson's Edition), so maybe we'll watch Clue too.

Ok, so I know a ton of people who are sick of the Keller-bashing, but try as I might, I just can't like her. I hate when she's paired with Rodney McKay, and I really hate how the writers of Stargate: Atlantis made the character into a two-dimentional Mary Sue. Sadly, Jennifer Keller comes off as Doogie Howser, Sci-Fi Barbie Edition. Even though I've read a few good McKeller stories, and I loved Keira Marcos' What Might Have Been  series, I much prefer Tarlan''s Forever Lost. I wish there were more Death-of-Keller stories. So I've been brainstorming the different scenarios for her death--there are so many choices! For instance, maybe the Sekkari' s AI device somehow assists Sheppard in killing Keller. I read a story where the woman that is shown to Woosley is the spitting image of John's mother. Maybe the AI left a part of itself behind...for no other reason but it 'felt bad' about torturing John, even if it was his mind torturing itself? (yeah, not far fetched at all!) I kinda like this one, if you overlook the silliness of the AI wishing to do something other than recreate its' civilization. But, if that AI were able to interact with the mostly dormant Alteran AI on Atlantis, maybe it could happen? So assuming that the Sekkari AI downloaded itself into Atlantis' mainframe with the help of Atlantis' AI, it could then learn in what way it could best "pay John back" and help ease his mental torture. The two AIs would conspire to make John happy by giving him back his best friend, who is spending time with Dr. Keller, who refuses to even share him with his team. So, hiding their activities from the sensors, they make Jennifer look insane, while still protecting the inhabitants of the city. They even get her thinking that she's had conversations with Rodney's teammates, especially John Sheppard. At first people almost believe her, because she's Jennifer and she's doesn't have a vindictive bone in her body (whereas John Sheppard can be a cold stone killer). Which makes people feel really bad when they find that she's, at the very least, crazy. Eventually, she could either kill herself, have an accident, or possibly she tries to kill John Sheppard, and Ronon or Rodney have to stop her, and she ends up dead instead. Especially if it's Rodney, he could have the realization then that he'd do anything for John Sheppard.
Or maybe John gets desperate. Jennifer Keller isn't only stealing his best friend, she's decided to change everything about him. So he dusts off his Black Ops training and kills her in cold blood. If Atlantis is helping him cover it up, he could even take his time, and explain to her WHY she's dying.
In Brain Storm: FREEZE LIGHTNING! She gets hit & (oh so sadly) dies. Or she freezes to death and Rodney is unable to save her. (Later, John will comfort Rodney by looking into the situation for him and finding that it looks like she'd been dead for 30 minutes by the time he got to her, so it wasn't his fault, because he had to fix Malcom Tuney's mistake before he could go rescue her--and the reason she ended up stuck was somehow her fault, as in if she had made a better choice, or kept from being somewhere Rodney warned her against, she would have bene fine.)
Infection: Oops! Killed by her own retro-virus; a rabid former drone eats her face off. :) Todd could even help her die, as a favor for Sheppard.
Identity: Dies in Neva's body---again John & the team can comfort Rodney with the fact that she shouldn't have been touching things--Ronon could even say that John's not that stupid.
Enemy at the Gate: is there some way for her to fall over the railing and die? That would be awesome.
Or maybe instead it's after the ending, probably back in Pegasus, where Rodney will be forced to choose between his fiancee and the man who is his best friend--he can save only one. And even though he's been blowing Sheppard off left and right, he chooses John. John wasn't expecting to be chosen, infact he had a sad smile as he wished Rodney well in life and said "good bye" with dignity. Whereas Jennifer was expecting to be chosen, and was even a bit smug, gloating as John first looked resigned and then said his goodbye. Rodney, who would be very conflicted, utterly saddened that he's been put in this situation, would see her and realize she's not worth killing his friend for. John, shocked to be alive, thanks his friend, and expresses his sincere condolances. Rodney might even find out later that Jennifer was terrorizing John over Rodney's choosing her (and Rodney had no clue there was an option between the two, even though she occasionally made it sound that way--she even blamed Rodney's being uncomfortable with John's attraction to him as being the reason he's been so absent from team bonding rituals).
Or Jennifer Keller could be arrogant, and accidentally poison herself as she's experimenting with something.
Or, she could insist that she and Rodney move back to Earth, and then she gets hit by a truck!
Or maybe she's in the gateroom, and she's just blonde enough to be standing too close to the wormhole?
I'm sure there are dozens of other ways for her to die, maybe I'll add more later. :) , rants, sga

So, yeah, I've had some odd dreams lately...
( First there was the one where I met Chris Judge from Stargate: )
( Then there was the one last night where I was a cadet in military college, specifially I knew I was Laura Cadman (from Stargate Atlantis): )
( Way back, more than 6 months ago, I had one where I was John Sheppard, going back to Atlantis after a big trip to Earth, getting ready for a huge campaign against the Wraith. )
That one led me to wanting to read all the John Sheppard/Jack O'Neill I could--and there's not much, is there? So...yeah, dreaming in fandom, and sometimes I'm a character. Odd, but I'm weird like that. :-) And now, with all the reminiscing, I'm in the mood for a Clone!Jack/John Sheppard Slash fic. Sadly, I don't think there is one...and it just doesn't seem likely. But there is one with the clone & John that I do see.
